The O'Neill Public School District serves approximately 850 students K-12. It covers 114 square miles and has two attendance centers, a K-6 elementary school and a 7-12 Jr./Sr. High.
In addition to the K-12 program offered, O'Neill Public Schools is a member of a two-way interactive consortium of 13 high schools, ESU #8, and two colleges. Northeast Nebraska Community College has an attendance center in a building owned by the district.
About 50% of O'Neill's graduates continue their education at a four year college. Other post secondary schools receive another 25% of the graduates, while the remaining 25% enter the job market or join the military.
